North East Premier League week three round-up

neplSouth Northumberland remain top of the Dukes North East Premier League after a seven-wicket victory against last years champions Stockton.

Jonny Wightman took 4-37 to restrict Stockton to just 155-9 and put the home side in a strong position.

Captain John Graham then scored a patient 73 not out, on a difficult wicket, to lead The Bulls easily home.

Benwell Hill continued their unbeaten start to the season as they beat Newcastle by seven wickets away from home to leave themselves second in the table.

At the bottom, Gateshead Fell are still without a win after they were smashed away to Tynemouth.

Ruhan Pretorious scored 57 not out before 5-14 from David Hymers gave Tynemouth an 169-run victory.

Whitburn got their first win of the season by beating Chester-le-Street by two wickets and are now only seven points behind their opponents.

Elsewhere, Blaydon won at home to Hetton Lyons and the match between Durham Cricket Academy and Sunderland ended in a draw with the Durham side taking the extra points.
